Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend by Dan Santat is a Caldecott winner for good reason. Follow a very unimaginary friend around as it tries to find a child to make life less lonely.
You might want to read "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales" to yourself before you read it to your kids. It is funny, irreverent, and always good for a laugh. But beware, it's weird.
No list of wonderful children's books would be complete without "The Adventures of The Tooth Brigade". This heart-warming tale of friendship and helping others will be a welcome addition to any childhood library. It even comes with a tooth token, which can be used in place of a tooth for the Tooth Fairy. Because sometimes teeth get swallowed, misplaced, or dropped in the sink!
